This year Amazon opened its largest warehouse in Telangana. It also recently added a warehouse in Kolkata to serve the Eastern region of India. Amazon has now announced the launch of its 7th fulfilment centre in Maharashtra, making the state the proud beneficiary of the largest overall Amazon storage capacity in the country. The new warehouse which is set up in Bhiwandi, near Mumbai, has over 1 million cubic feet of storage space and measures nearly 230,000 square feet.
“Maharashtra has emerged as the state where we have the largest footprint for our fulfilment services. It stands testament to our commitment in making deep investments in the state and in turn creating opportunities for employment, growth and revenue generation for the government. We know Amazon fulfilment centres can play a significant catalytic role in the development of an inclusive e-commerce economy with benefits accruing across the ecosystem,” said Akhil Saxena, director operations at Amazon India.
The setting up of another warehouse in the state of Maharashtra, will provide benefits to the economy, especially for firms providing the following services:
