Traders body ties up with Singaporean ecommerce firm to expand marketplace, elala

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is reportedly connected to 60 million traders in India. This huge figure brought it to the attention of eBay last year who was attempting to create the largest seller base in the world. CAIT also had a bright idea to create an ecommerce marketplace of its own, to benefit Indian merchants.
Last month, IOS reported that CAIT had launched an online marketplace called ‘e-Lala.biz’, designed specifically for merchants owning a physical store, who want to sell online. CAIT has now taken the e-lala.biz platform a step forward by partnering with Shopmatic, a B2B ecommerce firm, based in Singapore, to help manage the online ecosystem.
The initial phase will be kicked off in Delhi NCR and eventually spread to every nook and corner of the country. Shopmatic currently has offices in Delhi and Bengaluru. It is understood Shopmatic will charge merchants $20 a month to avail of the service.
“We look forward to Shopmatic onboarding as many merchants as possible, for them to avail this unique opportunity of being part of eLala.biz and of getting their unique online presence, as well. Global major in card payment technology MasterCard and HDFC Bank are associated with e-lala.biz in a big manner,” stated BC Bhartia, president of CAIT, Nagpur.
Shopmatic will assist traders with:
- Enrolling on the ‘e-Lala.biz’ marketplace
- Selling online
- Creating a unique online identity
- Providing information on how to master online selling
- Selling nationally and globally
“We are indeed, privileged to partner CAIT in helping merchants take their businesses online. This partnership fits in well with our plans to reach out to millions of merchants in the cities and smaller towns of India. Most small businesses are afraid to take their businesses online, due to the fear of it being too complicated a process and the fear of high costs. Our platform has been created to offer the highest levels of simplicity to such merchants at the most affordable cost- $20 a month,” said Anurag Avula, CEO, Shopmatic.
