Flipkart opens warehouse near Gurgaon for better order fulfilment in the Northern region

To meet the increasing demand for consumer electronics and durables in the north of India, ecommerce leader, Flipkart has set up a fulfilment centre in Luhari, which is next to Gurgaon. Ahead of the Big Billion Days sale this is sure to bring music to the ears of both buyers and sellers.
Flipkart recently set up a fulfilment centre in Telangana and just last month it had opened up a facility in Chennai. In an exclusive interview with IOS, Flipkart's VP & Head of Seller Ecosystem, Manish Maheshwari shared the need to ramp up more fulfilment centres so that smaller cities can join in the action and also shop with Flipkart.
Building the supply chain
The new warehouse is measuring over one lakh square feet and has a total storage capacity of nearly 5 lakh cubic feet. Flipkart is gradually increasing the number of Fulfilment centres in the country and the latest one became its seventeenth warehouse. The online marketplace now boasts of a storage capacity of over 1.5 million square feet and counting.
"With Flipkart Big Billion Days just around the corner, the new warehouse will help us improve the productivity and meet the anticipated demand during this period,” said Binny Bansal, Flipkart Chief Operating Officer & Co-founder.
The new warehouse has been built to serve northern region cities such as:
- Delhi
- Haryana
- Rajasthan
- Punjab
- Madhya Pradesh
The new warehouse will assist in faster deliveries of:
- Televisions
- Washing machines
- Refrigerators
- Air conditioners
- Microwave ovens
“Owing to a rise in customer demand, we are investing hugely in strengthening the supply chain areas, improving processes and ensuring quality assurance,” said Binny Bansal, Flipkart Chief Operating Officer & Co-founder.
