Myntra acquires Native5, mobile app development platform

Yes, as reported earlier, Myntra did not shut down its desktop site and become mobile-only on May 1st. But looks like the online fashion etailer is speeding up the transformation. Native5, Bengaluru based mobile application development platform, has been acquired by Myntra.

What is Native5?

Native5 is a cloud platform that helps to create and distribute mobile apps across smartphones, tablets and desktops. So this looks to be in tune with Myntra’s strategy to go mobile-only.

However, sources indicate that Myntra has included Native5 in its kitty for the talent and not the product per se. Co-founders Priyadarshi, Barada Sahu and Shamik Datta will be absorbed into the Flipkart technology team.

Pooja Gupta, VP, human resource at Myntra, said: “We are always on the look-out to acquire companies that can add value to our business – however, we are very particular that the entity/business being considered makes not just business sense but ties in with our culture and value proposition.”

Previous acquisitions by Myntra

In 2012, Myntra acquired Exclusively.in, a niche flash sales site for fashion, jewellery and home décor, meant for members only. In 2013, Myntra acquired Fitiquette, developer of virtual fitting room technology.
