Tata CLiQ looks to earn more through niche consumers with the launch of its online luxury division

Tata CLiQ may be the new marketplace on the block but it certainly has its goals in place. The ecommerce portal announced on Tuesday that it will be housing mega luxury brands. Armani Jeans, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Coach and Furla are just the first few of the lot. There will be more on the platform soon.

The online marketplace already signed up with 12 global brands that offer their goods exclusively on the Tata CLiQ shopping portal. The head of business at Tata CLiQ Luxury, Amit Rawal said that many brands intend on entering India through online platforms.

He added, “Our focus is on international brands but will be looking at the Indian couture category as well. We want to build the best assortment for categories like hand bags and luxury watches.”

Tata CLiQ’s end goal is luxury

Rawal mentioned, “Our goal is to make this the definitive platform for luxury. A lot of brands are hesitant in opening stores here and there wasn’t a brand like Tata in the digital space before.”

He said, We are starting with bridge to luxury brands and will eventually add more luxury brands like Burberry and Jimmy Choo. We are talking to numerous luxury brands on a daily basis.”

Genesis Luxury is an Indian marketing and distribution partner for high-fashion and luxury brands like the ones Rawal mentioned. He claims that Genesis will be bringing more brands to the platform.

The platform is expected to make delivers to 4,500 PIN codes at the start than eventually 6,000 PIN codes or 15% of the country’s total postal network.
