In a bid to improve its delivery services, Flipkart is on the path to introducing a new delivery scheme named, ‘F-Assured’. The new and upgraded service is coming up in place of Flipkart Advantage. The revamped service, which is free of cost to customers, will come with quicker delivery. According to a person involved in the proceedings,
“With F-Assured, a customer will get products that Flipkart promises will undergo six different quality checks, a better return policy and same or next-day free delivery.”
The Indian ecommerce bellwether has launched its ambitious new service to try and combat Amazon’s premier paid services. The benefits of Amazon Prime include:
Speculators have said that Amazon has plans to launch this service in India shortly. The company has not confirmed these rumours, but reliable sources say,
“It’s been in the works for a while and they are looking to launch it soon, given the kind of focus they have on the Indian market and being able to close in on Flipkart.”
Flipkart has reason enough to worry about Amazon.
“A lot of loyal shoppers, ecommerce veterans who are not discount hunters and have higher purchasing power, have shifted to Amazon because of a variety of reasons like shopping experience,” says Mrigank Gutgutia, engagement manager at RedSeer, an internet research firm.
The focus of F-Assured is going to be on home appliances, mobiles and electronics. The company has revealed in a recent survey that women in the NCR region purchase a great deal of home appliances.
Where will the new feature leave the sellers? With the paid service, sellers will have to double up on their delivery when returns are promised on the next day. Sellers have already been facing a lot of heat with Flipkart’s recent policy changes and creation of seller units. The four new units are purportedly to bypass the FDI rules that prevent marketplaces from having more than 25% of the sales. The move has minimised the opportunity for the company’s sellers. With all this, how long can a seller sustain business?
