Adding weight to the concept of hyper local delivery, Shopclues is planning to introduce ‘neighbourhood market’, a new feature on its app. The feature will connect customers with their local merchants. The program has been introduced in Delhi around two weeks back, and soon will enter Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities by the end of this month.
Shopclues believes that local merchants would have a better understanding of their customers, thus benefiting the business in a better way. Co founder and CEO of Shopclues, Sanjay Sethi says, “Our aim is to provide self-service technologies that allow them to be more successful in local areas.”
Involving local merchants help majorly in the trust factor. A customer is more likely to trust the neighbourhood grocery store for quality products and relevant after sales service and support than an invisible merchant who operates from a website or an app. Banking on local merchants also reduces the hyper local marketplace’s logistics headache.
Tying up with hyper local marketplaces also benefits the local brick and mortar shops, which have been facing serious threats with the advent of the online shopping revolution. An added advantage is that they need not spend on advertising and marketing; this is taken care of by the marketplace.
The customer has it easy with door delivery of products. At the end of the day, it appears as though hyper local delivery is a win-win proposition for all involved.
