Meet Fabque, the new ecommerce marketplace with a difference

Editor | Mar 24, 2021

With Flipkart, Snapdeal, eBay and Amazon swarming around, there are only few ways a new marketplace can enter Indian commerce industry and gain competitive advantage. One is either they offer their product/service at the lowest possible price (which is next to impossible) or if they have differentiated product/service to offer for which there is a huge scope. The latest ecommerce player on the block Fabque claims to have the latter – Something New to Offer.

What’s Fabque

Fabque is the newest addition to the online marketplace brigade that has a wide range of products under their wings including handmade products, electronics, unique gifts, jewellery, home decor and the latest category- artworks.

Nikhil Khattar from Fabque shares, “We have a very simple idea, where we want to showcase and sell only the most fantastic products available in the market and making product discovery very easy for our users. Adding Arts was only the next logical step to our ever expanding offerings.”

What’s their USP

This fresh start-up boasts of a new business model that integrates marketplace with social media and allows customers & sellers to interact freely. Known as ‘social’ marketplace, Fabque, despite of being only a few months old and self-funded, has managed to merge popular and niche online space.

Khattar added, “We are not looking to sell every product in the market, and that’s our biggest USP. Anyone who is looking for something different should first think of us, that’s the mission of FabQue.com.” They aim at making product discovery a fun process for consumers and wish to keep adding diverse categories.

How can sellers benefit by selling on this platform?

  • It bridges the gap between buyers and sellers
  • Control over listings, inventory, terms and conditions
  • Beneficial for those who have niche & premium priced product/service as opposed to low-priced mass produced goods.
  • Prompt feedback from the buyers will help sellers to improve quality of product and service
  • Access to new customer base
  • Ideal for small sellers and home-based businesses

Although the competition level in today’s ecommerce industry is very fierce, Fabque is not in direct competition with the likes of Flipkart or Amazon. It is like comparing US’s Macy’s or Walmart with Etsy. If they continue introducing interesting product categories and keep focusing on developing a ‘buyer-seller centric’ friendly and functional model, then Fabque has the potential to create its own niche place in this market segment and provide a fair platform to small sellers and endeavours .
