Bad luck seems to have added Flipkart to its top favourites. What started off as a marketing blunder (or was it?) was following by wrong deliveries and warehouse raids in 2014. While all these supposedly created friction with authorities with Flipkart even trying to make amends, these also led to customer agitation and unhappiness.
2015 seems to be no different for Flipkart on the luck factor. If reports on the ecommerce block are to be believed, Flipkart has already rubbed the wrong shoulders of the IT department in 2015. A penalty of Rs 23.51 crore has been slapped on the ecommerce giant, supposedly for irregularity in operations.
A Ghaziabad tax department official mentioned that the company did not pay taxes to the IT department, although the same were collected from customers. “The said irregularity in the taxes was found after the books of the firm were seized. The company had earlier paid Rs 29 lakhs as penalty,” said the official.
Some other shocking facts also came into light during the investigation. Apparently, a lot of the company’s listed trade partners do not exist.
However, when contacted a Flipkart spokesperson said, “At Flipkart, it is our endeavor to be transparent in all our dealings with authorities. We are compliant with the laws of the land and will extend full support to the authorities and address any concerns they have.”
