Leading online portal Snapdeal announced its Diwali Bumper sale last month, to be held from September 15th to October 25th. There was a surge in its sales already after sponsoring the popular TV show, Big Boss.
The Diwali sale, coupled with the increased marketing campaign, has brought in 100 percent growth for Snapdeal for products like apparel, electronics and footwear.
“With leading categories like apparel, footwear, home decor and electronic gadgets witnessing a growth of nearly 100 per cent in sales during this period over the preceding 30 day average, Snapdeal recorded the highest jump in total transactions in the last 2.5 years, outpacing the growth witnessed during the festive season in 2013,” Snapdeal said in a statement.
The unique marketing strategy is targeted at its diverse customer base spread across metros, in addition to the tier 2 and 3 cities. 28 leading celebrities were roped in to talk about the various offers that would be offered by Snapdeal during the Diwali sale period. These celebrities were chosen such that consumers from all walks of life would be able to relate to them.
