Delhi-based E-commerce Shiprocket is India's first automated retail solution that ships products to the customer. Shiprocket has scaled up and recorded more women sellers on their platform who work on shipping personal care to electronic products directly to their customers.
Compared to February 2020, this firm has leaped with 273% growth in shipment, which the women seller thoroughly does. Shiprocket said that "the numbers are pretty good and around 700% women seller count has increased in the span of time from February 2020 to February 2021. This women's seller count has rapidly increased from more than 2,000 to 20,000 within a year. With this total count, now the current number is near to 23,000".
Co-Founder and CEO of Shiprocket, Saahil Goel, said, from recent times, D2C has now become a very important sector with immense traction. Besides, many women entrepreneurs are using the online marketplace for successful selling. Since last year, Shiprocket has increased the numbers in terms of D2C women sellers.
The Shiprocket firm has observed well enough that from where traction of women sellers is coming. More than 24% of traction has happened from social media, 12% online stores, and 10% offline channels. And, the least traction was 3%, which was carefully observed from the marketplace.
Shiprocket has also calculated the overall percentage of women sellers. It has been identified that Tier-I cities are 55%, and Tier-II is 45%, followed by the women sellers.
As per the latest report, Shiprocket has five categories of sectors where women sellers are operating. The numbers are 39% women's sellers operating in the healthcare sector, 25% in personal care, 19% in apparel, 10% in electronics & accessories, and 7% in kitchen products.
