Reliance is all set to launch a new and separate platform for third-party sellers on its e-commerce website, JioMart. The company is currently onboarding merchants for the same.

The move comes as a part of Reliance's plans to take on the likes of Amazon and Flipkart in the Indian e-commerce space. Reliance launched AJIO to develop a fashion e-commerce site with handpicked designs at reasonable prices. Reliance is said to be offering discounts and other incentives to merchants to get them on board. The company is also reportedly working on a marketing campaign to promote the new platform.

Launching a separate platform for third-party sellers is part of Reliance's efforts to help small sellers and businesses sell their products online. It is noted that the onboarding is temporary, and once the new platform is ready, the sellers will be moved to the new platform.

With the launch of a separate platform for third-party sellers, Reliance is looking to tap into the growing trend of online shopping in India. The company also took many initiatives towards Indian e-commerce space by providing Snapdeal supply chain seller financing. The move is also in line with the company's plans to make JioMart a leading player in the Indian e-commerce space.

Reliance Industries is taking measures to make its e-commerce venture comply with the upcoming eCommerce policy, which needs marketplace operators and sellers to remain separate entities. The proposed platform will have third-party sellers with the jio branding, and the jioMart will continue to sell its in-house brands.

Currently, Reliance is accepting independent sellers who are offering a new line of products that it doesn't have - auto accessories, sports goods, perfumes, and more. It is planning to onboard 1000 independent sellers in the first phase and is looking to increase the sellers in the second phase. Independent sellers are supposed to work under the same terms as Reliance retail entities, including commission, free deliveries, and no minimum order value.

Reliance has been supporting the trading community through the Confederation of All India Traders to equalize the e-commerce laws for all sellers. The company has partnered with many brands to improve its reach to potential customers with its offline presence. Under the new initiative, Reliance is also said to be working on an app for small sellers which will help them list their products on the platform.
