eCommerce lead, Amazon India, has opened one more fulfillment center in the state of Telangana. Announcing its launch on Thursday, the company calls it a new specialized center and an addition to an existing flock of centers in the state.

The new Fulfillment Centre is spread over two lakh square feet of floor area and can offer more than six lakh cubic feet of storage capacity. Recently, Amazon opened the largest fulfillment centre in Haryana to help the online merchants of North India. The eCommerce giant said it is expected to house a wider selection of products from the large appliances and furniture category in a press release.

According to the company's official statement, the FC will benefit more than 35,000 sellers from the state and gain a larger customer base. At the same time, this expansion will help in generating direct and indirect work opportunities in Telangana. The move will also help in ensuring seamless and faster deliveries to customers as well.

With this new addition, Amazon India's infrastructure footprint in Telangana owns a floor area of close to one million square feet and a storage capacity of more than 5 million cubic feet.

The center will house tens of thousands of products such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, and the furniture category, ahead of the upcoming festive season in India.

Abhinav Singh, Director, Amazon Transportation Services, Amazon India, is hopeful that the expanded infrastructure will play a crucial role in fulfilling the customers' growing demand for large appliances and furniture while providing a support base for small and medium businesses across the state.

"Our continued investment in Telangana will have a multiplier impact on the local economy and provide an impetus to ancillary businesses across the state," added Singh.

Commenting on the development, KT Rama Rao, Minister for IT and Industries, Telangana, said the significant investment from Amazon India in the state is proof that the state is a lucrative business and innovation hub.

Opening up a Fulfillment Centre in Telangana is seen as a part of Amazon India's national expansion capability by close to 40% in 2021, revealed in the company release.
