Amazon Increases "Local Shops" Programme to More Than 50,000 Offline Retailers

Amazon has now become larger by scaling up their local shop's program by adding 50,000 more offline retailers in 450 different cities all over the county. By adding more offline retailers, Amazon has eventually doubled the number for the last four months. 

In April last year, Amazon launched the "Local Shop" program. When the city was new to the strict lockdown with the only online delivery services allowed at the time of the Coronavirus pandemic. With the local shop program, most Kirana and offline retailers have come onto Amazon and have started selling groceries and many other essential products on ecommerce platforms.

With this new programmer, Amazon said all the existing Kirana stores could resolve their footfalls and easily show their presence in the market with Amazon. Besides, the Kirana store can quickly expand its business and reach many people by selling daily essentials. 

The Vice President of Amazon, Manish Tiwary, said that Amazon had become a phenomenal local business. With the new local shop program, Amazon has emerged its program to more than 50,000 sellers in less than one year. This improvement in the program shows how digital inclusion can help to enhance the digital economy.

Further, Amazon India also said that numerous sellers belong to tier 2 and tier 3 cities like Osmanabad, Gorakhpur, Tumkur, Sangli, Bikaner, Jamnagar, and many more. All these sellers offer a vast selection of products like home & kitchen accessories, books, fresh flowers, furniture, toys, electronics, and many others with exceptional same/next-day delivery options. 

Moreover, Amazon said, In the Amazon's Great Indian Festival, more than 20,000 local stores have participated, and Amazon has received orders from 1,000 different pin codes. On December, Amazon's Small business Day, the local shop Amazon seller has almost doubled the sales. Therefore, Amazon India now has around 4,00,00 sellers from different sides.

From the pandemic, now the Kirana has recovered well and stayed open even in lockdown time. The e-commerce firms also make sure to shift gears and focus more on excellent business strategy to offer the fastest delivery.

Flipkart has also started on-board Kirana services. At the time of sales like Festive Season and Big Billion Days, Flipkart has more than 50,000 Kirana stores from 850 different cities from all over India.

Amazon has expanded the local shop's program to its platform with more than 50,000 offline retailers. With more retailers, Amazon can help the Kirana store grow its business to the next level. This expansion will also help the Kirana store reach many more people to offer daily essential products with excellent same/next-day delivery options.
