The impact of COVID-19 has impacted the small businesses as lockdown caused a halt to the entire operation. Thus, both sellers and consumers are on eCommerce platforms to make an easy reach to the people. With the impact of lockdown, there is a rise in the shopping of people of different classes and towns. Amazon is giving its helping hands to its sellers by offering them a better ecosystem for small businesses.

Better opportunities for the small businesses

Amazon is focusing on improving its e-commerce platform for helping sellers from different verticals and categories to grow. Amazon has always supported various SMEs and SMBs to give them a better platform for business. According to Manish Tiwary, Vice President Amazon India - “most consumers have moved online for their shopping needs during the pandemic situation all across the country.” Today, Amazon is working with millions of SMBs and small businesses. In the initial days of lockdown, this platform checked and ensured how their sellers survive in such a difficult situation.

Manish Tiwary also stated that- we, first of all, provided group health insurance to the sellers that helped them to cover the entire medical expenses hospitalization for any illness. It was also for the treatment and hospitalization due to COVID-19.

Secondly, Amazon waved various fees on these platforms for small sellers that they used to pay. Thirdly, Amazon realized that working capital was very difficult and burdensome for resellers, especially in this tough time of lockdown and Covid-19. Because of this, we started on-demand disbursement, said Manish Tiwary.

Providing better B2C Opportunities for the Indian Exporters

These days, there can be a huge number of Indian exporters on the B2B route. This is one of the main reasons for which they are not getting true value for their products. On this, Manish Tiwary added that- “We are engrossed in providing reliable services where the India exporters can create their B2C account in a few minutes to make 50 percent of the world’s economy.

Amazon is all set to onboard more sellers in the coming years. At present, it’s having approximately 700,000 sellers and small businesses. For bringing more sellers of other categories, Amazon is increasing the ecosystem front. There are chances of bringing categories such as food and pharmacy.
