Amazon And Flipkart To Use Open Box Delivery To Stop Delivery Mishaps

With the onset of the festive season, both e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart have been juggling to perform their best. With large-scale discounts offered by both, the scope of errors in delivery leading to wrong or damaged products delivered has now caused concern among people. The only resolution that could come to their rescue is Open-Box inspection and delivery.

The fiasco started with wrong and fake products that got delivered to customers. Instead of an iPhone 12, a man got detergent bars and yet another one got detergent powder instead of a washing machine. To counter these delivery mishaps, both the ecommerce giants have adopted the Open-Box Inspection and delivery system. This service is currently limited to certain areas and valid on mostly electronic products.

With Diwali and New Year celebrations around the corner, more discounts and sales are expected. To avoid any such incidents again, Amazon and Flipkart are fixing the damage that has been done.

Amazon proposes the Open-Box inspection, which will enable the customer to check if the product received is what was ordered. On inspection, the customer needs to share a six-digit code with the delivery person if the product is correct. Else, the product is refused and subsequently, a refund is processed for the same.

This facility has been introduced to reduce errors. However, once the code is shared, the company shall not be able to accept the returns. The customer, therefore, needs to be sure of his part of the inspection.

Similar to this, Flipkart has started the Open Box delivery system. As per this service, which is again active right now only in cities like Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, and Chandigarh, the delivery person shall open the box in front of the customer. If the product is correct, it shall be accepted by the customer, else, the customer may return the product, in which case the return policy of Flipkart shall apply.

One of the advantages of this process is for people who paid cash on delivery. The delivery representative shall return the amount back. However, for people who have prepaid, the credit shall be posted in the customer’s account.

With both the giants feeling the jitters of the delivery mishaps, these solutions are expected to mend the situation and the fiasco that happened earlier this month. With the cutthroat competition between the two, the comparison is bound to take place. Hence, both Amazon and Flipkart are doing their best to protect their brand and ensure that such incidents do not hamper their huge profits earned through these sales.

Just as the Diwali sale is close, the aim of both Amazon and Flipkart will be to provide a full-proof and reliable delivery to customers that is free of errors. After all, receiving the wrong products or damaged ones can bring about a big blow to the image of the ecommerce platform that is involved.
