Could Restock Inventory by Amazon prevent restocking complications?

Amazon is always trying to outdo itself in different ways and its efforts seem to be paying off. The etailer appears to have beaten Flipkart’s GMV score in July with gross sales of more than Rs. 2000 crore.

The US-based online marketplace is improving its ecommerce platform day by day and is providing its sellers with support to go further. Recently the ecommerce platform introduced ATES support for sellers with suspended accounts and planned to help ease the recurring problem of returns.

Now the etailer has introduced another feature for a greater selling experience, it’s called Restock Inventory. It introduced the feature by emailing its FBA sellers. The email said this feature will be a part of the inventory planning tools. However, at present, it is a limited-time beta release available only to a select few among its fulfilled sellers.

What does Restock Inventory help sellers do?

The Restock Inventory from Amazon is a feature that enables maximisations of sales and effective inventory management for meeting demand. With the help of Restock Inventory, Amazon sellers can:

  • Obtain product restock recommendations which include order quantity and reorder date suggestions.
  • Fine-tune restock recommendations by offering more information about supplier lead time, case pack quantities and minimum orders.
  • Create immediate shipment to Amazon directly from the restock recommendations.
  • Prepare supplier based product groups for easy purchase order creation.

How does Restock Inventory work?

The Restock Inventory page needs some set-up, but Amazon has given its sellers a head start:

  • The Restock Inventory page already has the SKUs of the seller’s FBA products. Those products that the seller doesn’t want recommendations for can be hidden.
  • While setting up, the seller must provide default supplier lead time and reorder frequency. This will be applied to all the products as a result. Sellers can modify these values for specific products if they wish to.
  • To enable more products or to modify restocking preferences in bulk, this feature also comes with a bulk configuring option.

Since the feature is still in the beta phase, sellers need to test it out thoroughly, says Amazon in its email about the new facility. According to the feedback obtained from its sellers, Amazon will take the next step.
