Ecommerce Marketplace, Paytm recently launched the ‘Paytm Force’ service, where 3,000 professionals in various fields, can be hired by its sellers. There was more good news as Paytm is strengthening its logistics and also outlined its ambitious online to offline strategy.

Paytm has now announced that it plans to invest 10 crore in marketing ‘Make in India’ products, by creating a special hub on its platform. Last year, Paytm talked off plans to introduce a ‘Virtual China Bazaar’ so this latest development comes as a breath of fresh air for Indian Online Sellers.

“We see the abundance of talent and capability in manufacturing and handicrafts in our country and aim to create a special platform where such indigenous creators can sell across the country,” stated Sudhanshu Gupta, Vice President, Paytm.

Searching for quality products

Paytm has an in-built verification system on its portal to identify sellers who are adhering to high standards of quality control. These are the kind of sellers and products that Paytm is searching for. Paytm is looking to onboard 5,000 manufacturers under this scheme by the end of 2016.

‘Make in India’ Product categories to be included:

  • Mobile phones
  • Clothes
  • Home furnishings
  • Handicrafts

“Bolstering the business of small and medium retailers within the country is core to our brand DNA and is aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision for the ‘Make in India’ programme,” signed off Sudhanshu.
