Leading online grocery marketplace BigBasket has entered Uttar Pradesh. Adding to the twelve cities where it currently operates, the company has launched operations in Lucknow.

Co founder of BigBasket, Abhinav Choudhary said on the launch, “Uttar Pradesh is a high growth market for us and we are excited to launch our services in Lucknow. We are currently present in 12 cities and will be soon entering many others. We are confident to revolutionize the grocery shopping experience for the people of Lucknow.”

Value added shopping experience

Buyers can log on to Bigbasket.com or download the app to meet their grocery needs. The company says that its principles are based on three promises to its buyers:

• On time delivery or 10% refund of the total bill amount  
  
• Quality assurance! If the customer is dissatisfied, BigBasket will take back the deliver
  
• If even one item is missing from the order, BigBasket will refund 50% of the product

BigBasket will establish a central warehouse in the city, and will despatch orders across the city via company-owned vans. The company plans to have its presence in other cities as well in the near future.

BigBasket will have to contend with local online stores like Ghar Bhaithe, a Lucknow-based online grocery start-up, and local physical stores. Industry observers will have to keenly watch the proceedings to see how BigBasket will fare in Lucknow.
