Exchanging gift wrapped packets of cow dung online

If you want a heap of cow dung, invariably you will have to make a trip to the nearest village. Hold on, you need not take all that trouble; you only have to log on to Amazon or Shopclues! Leading online marketplaces like Shopclues, Amazon and eBay are offering cow dung patties. Urban buyers are enthusiastically demanding cow dung patties that are made using a combination of sun dried cow dung and hay. Cow dung is very good manure.

While cow dung patties have a variety of uses, some buyers are requesting for gift wrapping. Retailers are also offering a discount for bulk purchases.

Sellers and buyers on the ready

Radhika Agarwal speaking on behalf of Shopclues said, “Around Diwali, when people do a lot of pujas in their homes and workplaces, there is a lot of demand for cow dung cakes.” She also stated that all the patties had sold out recently. “Increasingly, in the cold weather, people are keeping themselves warm by lighting fires using them,” added Agarwal.

• Each patty weighs roughly 200 grams

• The costs vary between Rs. 100 & Rs. 400

Madhavi Kochar, an Amazon spokesperson says, “Cow dung cakes have been listed by multiple sellers on our platform since October and we have received several customer orders since then.” Kochar also notes that the orders are greater in the cities where cow dung is not available easily.
