Hero Cycles enters the online space via sports365.in

Earlier this week the much loved brand, Hero Cycles announced their entry in the ecommerce world. The successful bicycle producer has collaborated with sports365.in, an online sports store and intends to sell 100,000 units in the next one year. This move is aligned with Hero Cycle’s goal to expand their consumer base and make their presence felt across the country.
Managing Director of Hero Cycles, Mr. Pankaj Munjal said, “We have been closely watching the evolution of our consumers’ behavioural pattern. We decided to make our entire range of cycles available online to make it easier and more convenient for our buyers to pick, compare and choose from our wide range of offerings.”
Admitting that ecommerce is an unfamiliar territory to explore, Munjal also shared, “We are the first one to enter, and ecommerce would be a learning process for us.”
The cycle brand has been working hard to stay contemporary and relevant. Hero Cycles paints a sepia-toned nostalgic picture in the minds of people who were born in the 80s and early 90s just like the names Ambassador, Maruti and Bajaj do. But the younger generation are not quite aware.
For the same, the company is taking help of the ‘modern’ route of shopping, i.e. ecommerce to create brand awareness. They also signed up young actor Arjun Kapoor as the brand ambassador.
The parent company, Hero MotoCorp had received positive response when they tied up with Snapdeal in December 2014 to launch their motorcycles online. This was their first brush with ecommerce. Nearly 100,000 two-wheelers – bikes and scooters were sold on Snapdeal which is a great number. With that in mind, we hope the humble bicycle finds many takers too.
