Snapdeal wants to do their branding on sellers’ premises

Snapdeal seems to be leaving no stone unturned in grabbing maximum customer eyeballs. As if the declaration that funds are not required anymore or tie-up with IPL was not enough, the ecommerce giant now plans to leverage on sellers’ offline shops as well to increase visibility and to plaster ‘Snapdeal’ wherever possible.

Snapdeal’s new idea of branding

In an email sent to sellers, Snapdeal requests those with offline shops to get in touch to brand their shops/premises with Snapdeal seller branding. Apparently, the branding would be lit and operational round the clock at no cost, yes completely free.

Snapdeal also mentions in the same email that shops/premises in the major market areas are preferred for maximum visibility. Sellers just have to drop in their details, post that the online marketplace’s team would have the branding executed within a month.

What should an Indian Online Seller do?

In the wake of rising and tough competition, this is Snapdeal’s way of leveraging on outdoor advertising options. But as a seller, why should you give them your space for free? Just like anyone else advertising on your space would have to pay a rental fee, you could ask Snapdeal also to pay you a fee for hiring your space for branding.

After all, when there is a ‘take’ from you, there has to be a ‘give’ from their side too, right?
