Jabong’s Sales Multiply, but Myntra Continues to be the Industry Leader!

Jabong is without any doubt growing with lightning speed, but when it comes to figures, the company has not been able to beat the industry leader Myntra yet.
What is helping Jabong grow?
Discounts, Discounts and more Discounts! Whenever a customer visits the website, he/she will always find one or the other offer running on the site. For instance,

Also, beside such special offers, Jabong makes sure they cut down the prices wherever possible.

Why is Myntra still ahead of Jabong then?
Flipkart’s takeover has worked wonders for Myntra, as since then, the company has been witnessing only rising sales figures. Other wise steps that the company took besides merging with Flipkart are –
i) Expansion of product offerings
ii) Expansion of warehouse capacity
ii) Increased Marketing Budgets
iv) Increased Discounts
This was a part of expansion and why the figures at Myntra are rising. When it comes to figures, for the year ending 31st March 2014, Myntra reported profits of Rs. 441.6 crore whereas Jabong earned Rs. 438 crore. And as experts believe, the sales at Myntra are going to only boom in the coming year.
Why Myntra’s sales can go up 3X than the current figures?
Myntra has been continuously making some positive changes to its sales strategies and working on enhancing user experience. One of such big changes in the ecommerce world will be brought to India by Myntra in form of 3D technology. If talks go well between Myntra and global firms, the company’s sales certainly will sky rocket as 3D technology will provide excellent shopping experience to the customers.
When asked about the same, Mr. Ganesh Subramanian, head of new initiatives at Myntra said, “Finally, the customer is only seeing (merely on mobile or on website) the product and not touching and feeling. So, if you have a 3D view of the product, it will help customers understand the product better, resulting in faster decision-making,”

Why 3D technology?
Subramanian feels that fashion ideas have to go through many stages like sketching to prototyping before it reaches the production stage. This procedure takes weeks and is time consuming. According to him, 3D technology will reduce the time taken by the traditional procedure from weeks to hours which means Myntra will have more fashion products on its list for the customers.
With such cut-throat competition in the eCommerce World, you never know who comes with ‘never tried before’ strategies and top the #1 list
