Editor By Editor June 09, 2020 3 min read

Snapdeal has come up with Image Guidelines Manual which looks pretty interesting and helpful. This is something every industry man should read and consider following.

Starting from the basic rules to keep in mind…

Image Standards

  • Use images those are clear, straightforward, and easy to understand.
  • Images must accurately represent the product and be information-rich and attractively presented.
  • Show only the product using images that is being offered for sale, with minimal or no propping. Text, logos, and inset images are not allowed.
  • Whenever possible, provide several images, with each one showing different angles and details of the product as shown in the below slides. This is your opportunity to show your product to your customer, so quality matters.
  • We prefer you to shoot using good Indian models but Indian looking foreign models can be used if branding is supported.

Note: We reserve the right to reject images that do not meet our image standards. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have all necessary rights to the images you submit. This document will be shared in the future with different versions in an evolving manner to support selling on Sndapdeal.com.

Hope you have got your basics right! Now let’s get down to the details:

How should your main image be?

  • The background for a MAIN image must be pure white (pure white blends in with the Snapdeal search and item detail pages and catalog, which has RGB values of 255,255,255).
  • A MAIN image must not be a graphic or illustration and must not contain accessories that are not being dispatched with the product like props that may confuse the customer, text that is not part of the product, or any logos, watermarks or inset images.
  • The product should fill 85% or more of the image

Here’s something about additional images…

MAIN image should be supplemented with additional images showing different sides of a product, the product in use, or details that are not visible in the MAIN image. For fashion accessory products, this could include the packaging, warranty, or size references. You can add up to twelve (12) images including the ones mentioned in the slides below.

A white background is required with or without shadow where shadow is desirable.

Additional images may not include logos or watermarks, and all props or accessories should be presented in a way that will not cause customer confusion.

And then… Here are some handy tips that you better keep handy!

  • Steam/iron clothing samples before the shoot to avoid wrinkles
  • Clean samples if required and lace-up footwear right to capture clean images
  • Choose clean skin model to shoot your products on if required
  • Model must know how to pose in the right manner and fit the sizes and avoid over-posing
  • Work with intelligent makeup & hair artists to support look
  • Style/prop model or table products to support the look/usage and avoid overdo
  • Keep the lighting consistent to avoid exposure issues in post
  • Shoot in cleaner spaces to save image processing time
  • Keep deleting unwanted captured images from camera to save more time
