Flipkart makes gifting easier with digital gift codes

Flipkart is making it easier for people to gift each other things from the internet! In a recent statement, Flipkart announced a strategic partnership with Euronet India, a company that provides e-payment solutions and enables electronic transaction processing in about 155 countries. Customers can now register on Euronet’s website, obtain a secure digital code which would be delivered to them over email or text, and can either redeem this code on Flipkart to buy something for themselves, or gift the code to a dear one.
Explaining the tie-up, Mausam Bhatt, Sr Director – Marketing, Flipkart said, “This initiative will not just help in bringing new customers on-board but can also potentially bring greater efficiency and scale in existing operations.”
Euronet, whose headquarters are in Kansas, USA, too seems excited about this partnership. “E-commerce is an exploding business category…This solution is now live with one of the largest private sector banks in the country and is expected to go live with a few more over the next couple of months,” said Himanshu Pujara, Managing Director of Euronet India.
This comes about two months after Flipkart discontinued its payment gateway PayZippy, which experts believe was a result of customers not warming up enough to it, and problems with PayZippy’s prepaid wallet license renewal.
With a new payment option in place, will Flipkart be able to reach even more consumers?
