While eBay and Alibaba may be the world’s biggest marketplaces, in Africa its Kaymu that holds fort. Its website declares it as the number one online marketplace in online emerging countries. With operations in 25 countries, out of which 15 are African, it was launched only two years ago. Brainchild of e-commerce group, Africa Internet Holding, it is backed by Rocket Internet, the incubator founded by the German Sawyer brothers famous for making millions by cloning digital businesses. Amazon extends olive branch to Hachette authors

We know the famous dispute that’s been on for a while now. Hachette accused Amazon of trying to make it commit suicide. Amazon said that was baloney. Some authors are backing the publisher, some the retailer and some are just fed up. While tensions have been deepening instead of getting solved, Amazon tried to make amends with the authors caught in the middle.

New legislation passed against Amazon by French State

In another world, the French legislation has passed a new law, unofficially called anti-Amazon law, by which online retailers cannot offer free shipping for discounted books. This is a move to protect the smaller physical bookstores that cannot match up to deals and offers given by Amazon and other online retailers.

The Brits love to click and collect

British consumers are increasingly becoming fond of the Click and Collect concept. There are more customers who pick up their orders in-store in UK than US.

eBay UK spurs casual sellers with an Extra Free Listing

eBay UK offered one free listing to private sellers to encourage them to list more. “You are almost there. Don’t miss out on listing success,” read an email eBay sent to private accounts, with a link to “continue selling.”
