Amazon.in now lets you buy stuff with hashtag #AmazonCart

Amazon India, that established its foundation in India last year has walked the extra mile by launching a shopping feature in India, that would most highly be welcomed by Twitter addicts. The new feature is called #Amazoncart which enables users to order products via Twitter. Users can add various products to their Amazon shopping cart without leaving the tweeting website.

The tagline that #Amazoncart reads is ”Add it now. Buy it later. Shop from within Twitter.” Twitter and Amazon users can now integrate their accounts and simply tweet a reply by using the Twitter handle – #Amazoncart alongwith the Amazon product link. The tweet will allow the product to be added to the user’s shopping cart. A few days ago, Amazon had also announced the same feature in the UK and US which is called #AmazonBasket. See the video below.
Once the user has tweeted their post, they will receive a reply from ‘@MyAmazonIn‘ and an email as well from Amazon.in when the product has been added to their cart. The products will remain in the shopping cart till the time users checkout or remove them on their own. To enable this feature, the user will firstly need to connect their Amazon and Twitter accounts. Without which, the user will not be able to utilize #Amazoncart feature.
How other online marketplaces are leaving no stone unturned to woo customers?
- Snapdeal – In order to cater to its huge customer base, the online markeplace is aiming at setting up 40 fulfillment centres across 15 cities to enable its 30,000 plus seller group to deliver products within 2 hours of order placement.
- Flipkart – The online marketplace giant that acquired Myntra in May this year, is now trying to attract student customers with additional discounts on smartphones, lapotops and clothing.
- Multilingual features – To reach out to the tier II and tier III cities especially barring the language barrier, Snapdeal has already begun offering Tamil and Hindi versions of the website. Other language based support features are soon to be launched by the end of 2014.

With every move being carefully strategized and launched, what remains to be seen is which online marketplace dominates the minds and hearts of consumers!
