eBay India launches 9 Hour Delivery in Mumbai

eBay India has joined the same day delivery club today! The eCommerce marketplace has announced that it will be starting its ‘9 hour delivery’ feature for Mumbai customers. It claims that if you order a product before 12pm, you will get the product shipped to you by 9pm that evening.

The 9 hour delivery is only available for certain product categories and products. Currently, Cameras, Laptops, Mobile phones and Tablets are covered under this feature. eBay India has setup a separate microsite for Mumbai users to check the available products and also to see if their pincodes are eligible for same day delivery. Shipping is free and no extra charges such as Octroi will be added. Most of the products listed on the microsite are also provided with discounts. This is to get users to start trying their new feature.

These past 2 months have been interesting in the eCommerce space. Same day shipping was first introduced by Amazon India. Flipkart and Snapdeal followed it and now even eBay India has enabled this. This proves that the Indian eCommerce market is very reactionary and moves like this can impact the sector considerably. Once same day shipping gets enabled in all the major cities, this will enable a whole different buying behavior and could possibly lead to increase in sales due to the convenience.
