Technical issues force GoJavas to halt logistics activities

Editor | Mar 24, 2021

GoJavas has temporarily paused its activities citing ‘technical issues’ during its ‘operational changes’. The logistics company owned majorly by Snapdeal, has issued the following statement:

“GoJavas is making changes to its operational model to be more flexible and to provide additional services and extra reach. However, we have encountered an IT (information technology) issue, which has hampered this rollout. We are working 24X7 to resolve this issue and will re-initiate load post thorough testing of our systems. All clients have been informed and are cooperating.”

Fabfurnish, Lenskart and Healthkart, the company’s clients, have been managing without their logistics partner for close to a week now.

The Snapdeal GoJavas love-hate saga

One of the country’s leading ecommerce companies, Snapdeal purchased a majority stake of 42% in GoJavas in October 2015. Subsequently, Snapdeal was considering buying out the remaining share, but mid-way things did not work. As a result, the logistics company, which was planning to service only Snapdeal, started considering including other sectors in its fold.

Snapdeal’s logistics plans

Snapdeal has been proactively working on developing its logistics arm. The company had planned to integrate its in-house logistics wing Vulcan with GoJavas when the latter was set to join the ecommerce company. Recently, the company has opened six logistics hubs in the NCR region to ensure a strong warehouse, transportation and quality control system. The move is in preparation for the upcoming festive season.

Logistics is a vital component in ecommerce. All leading ecommerce companies are focussing on taking care of this function in-house rather than depend on third party service providers. A strong logistics support will ensure a secure system.
