Flipkart launches Windows 10 version of app; accessible on all devices

Flipkart along with Microsoft has come up with a new version of the shopping app for Windows 10, the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system. The new app is customizable for all devices, said the company in a press release dated January 14.

In a smart move, the new app, titled Flipkart Windows 10 app has been developed with hybrid devices in mind, said the release. Users can access it via multiple input devices like desktop, and smartphone.

The benefits of the upgraded version

Users can avail of app-only offers through the new app. It also provides customised recommendations and notifications.

Amar Nagaram, director of Mobile Engineering at Flipkart said, “Over the last few months, we have been working on the Windows 10 platform to create a richer and more personalised experience for our consumers. We have been working towards creating a seamless experience similar to that of an app and Windows 10 surely provides opportunities to introduce innovative features.”

Goodies galore

Users can upload a picture of a product to search for similar products; a feature that was so far only available on the app. For those who complain that it is not possible to open multiple tabs at one time in the mobile app, this new version is an answer to that.

The fact that it can be accessed on any device, which include desktop, mobile, touch screen and non-touch devices makes it universally appealing. The new app seems to be an attempt to remove or at least minimise the disadvantages that come with both the desktop and the app.

Flipkart is clearly listening to its customers and is trying to adapt to everybody’s needs. This way, nobody can say that their complaints are not being addressed. Way to go, Flipkart!
