Taking omni-channel retail to the next level, ecommerce biggie Snapdeal and retail company Shoppers Stop have formed a strategic alliance. As a result of this deal, an exclusive customized Shoppers Stop digital store on Snapdeal will be created.

Both the companies announced their partnership yesterday and stated that the retail store’s unmatched brand collection coupled with the marketplace’s nationwide reach will give birth to a superior shopping experience for customers.

Co-Founder & CEO of Snapdeal, Kunal Bahl shared his excitement about this arrangement by saying,

“This partnership marks a strong beginning of the bright future for online and offline retail collaboration in India. By bringing the best of online and offline shopping experience to consumers we are confident of delivering great value to consumers across the country while offering them a world class shopping experience.”

Shoppers Stop’s online site will continue to run along with their digital store on Snapdeal. A wide range of curated brands and categories such as apparel, footwear and accessories will be made available to buyers. The retail store will use the online marketplace’s platform optimally by analysing consumer behaviour and accordingly design product promotions and launch campaigns.

A distinctive feature of this joint venture is that buyers will also be able to pick up products from the nearest Shoppers Stop store or get it delivered. To start with, this facility will be soon launched in North India first and will gradually expand to other regions.

Speaking about this new alliance, Govind Shrikhande, Managing Director, Shoppers Stop said,

“In line with our omni-channel retail vision for the company, we have embarked on this first-of-its-kind journey with Snapdeal to strengthen our presence in the marketplace channel. In addition to our own shopping site www.shoppersstop.com, online shoppers will now have the opportunity to also experience Shoppers Stop in the marketplace arena via our exclusive e-store on Snapdeal. We plan to introduce additional features such as ‘Click & Collect’, and ‘Ship from Store’, etc. in the next phase. Overall, this alliance with Snapdeal will give a significant fillip to the growth of our omni-channel business.”

Soon after the partnership announcement, Shoppers Stop’s stock rose over 7 per cent, which is a positive sign of growth. Competitor Future Group too had entered a similar deal last year by tying up with Amazon after failed talks with Flipkart.
