Walmart India has launched its 10th B2B ecommerce portal in Jammu. Members of Best Price wholesale store from Jammu and surrounding nine cities will now be able to access and shop from www.BestPrice.in. Without physically visiting the store, members can log in, choose and purchase from the site.
Krish Iyer, President and CEO, Walmart India, said, “It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of our B2B e-commerce channel in Jammu, marking the 10th B2B online store. This initiative is aimed at enhancing our members’ shopping experience by integrating physical and digital store presence. We at Walmart are continuously innovating to bring in member satisfaction and our B2B e-commerce platform is just one of several such initiatives. It represents an additional channel for us to serve our members better and help them save money as it comes with the added convenience of ordering online, door-step delivery within 24 hours and several payment solutions. As per responses we have been receiving, our members, especially reseller (Kirana) members are glad that they are now able to spend more time in their shops with their customers as they can shop online.”

Walmart India launched its first B2B ecommerce portal in India on 1st July 2014 in Lucknow and Hyderabad. Subsequently, the service was extended to other Indian cities like Vijawaya, Rajahmundry, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda and Zirakpur.

More in the pipeline?
According to a report last year in July, Walmart had plans to roll out the ecommerce facilities to 19 Indian cities by October 2014. Although that did not happen, Walmart India has been slowly and steadily extending the services to one city after another.
Next on the cards is Amritsar, which will complete the launch phase in Punjab. Workshops and training sessions have already been conducted to make sellers aware about the usage and benefits of the platform.
