The baby care segment seems to be the hot product category in the ecommerce space now. Just two days back, we heard about baby care etailer FirstCry securing $26 million in funding.
The latest buzz on the block is regarding another etailer selling baby products. Online baby products portal BabyOye has been acquired by the Mahindra group, although an official announcement on this is yet to be made.
But the group’s Chairman and MD, Anand Mahindra seems to have given an unofficial announcement of this latest news via his tweet:

Mahindra group operates the Mom & Me retail stores selling baby care and pregnancy products. There are chances of the online and offline channels getting synergized.
Considering the growing popularity of the baby care segment in the online space, it would not be surprising that BabyOye would probably be doing better than Mom & Me. So this acquisition by Mahindra group makes more sense as the popularity of the two can be combined and channelized to ensure adequate traffic to both the types of channels.
