Alibaba’s special mobile app DingTalk to bring businessmen closer

We have been witnessing a mobile buzz in the online retail industry for a while now. Many big ecommerce platforms have witnessed a growth in traffic access through mobile phones. This triggered a wave of investments in improving the mobile apps for different shopping website, with Flipkart even launching a grand sale to encourage use of their app over the desktop version.
Seller angle
Alibaba is using the cell phone in a slightly different way. Till now we have only witnessed ecommerce focusing on the consumer’s use of the cell phone. Alibaba is now trying to introduce a seller’s angle to it. The company has developed DingTalk which is a chatting app that targets small and medium businessmen. This is a unique app since its fills a gap in corporate communication on the mobile device. This app offers options like conference calls and group messaging.
According to an Alibaba spokeswoman, “DingTalk is a versatile mobile communications app that fills a gap in the market for corporate mobile messaging.”
By including smaller companies, DingTalk is aiming for a target audience that includes many Alibaba clients. This is in sync with its broader enterprise strategy, including the Alibaba Cloud Computing business, which look after Alibaba’s merchants and other companies too.
This is an excellent move by Alibaba to encourage networking between sellers. After all, quality ecommerce operations can only happen when companies focus not only on providing customers with a good experience, but also by focusing on giving sellers a positive experience by selling on online marketplaces.
