Etailers focus on mobile apps for marketing

It’s App-ropriate to say, mcommerce is here to stay!

It’s no new talk about how mcommerce is fast taking over ecommerce. However, we are now witnessing online companies like Flipkart getting aggressive with encouraging this move to mcommerce. This is leading to online retailers promoting their app as much as possible.

Mcommerce is rapidly taking over

Mausam Bhatt, senior director for mobile commerce & digital marketing at Flipkart said, “The ecommerce industry is now mcommerce in India; the way you reach out to customers is very different even from a year ago when other digital channels were more prominent.”

It comes as no surprise that Flipkart decided to skip participating in the Great Online Shopping Festival this year. Instead they launched their own version of a sale, which required customers to download the Flipkart mobile app to avail of the discounts. According to reports by leading industry sources, Flipkart and Amazon receive over half their traffic through Indian mobile phone users.

What sellers should note

This is also a sign for sellers that they should take account of the fact that most people will soon be browsing their listed products through mobiles. This must be kept in mind when creating the picture catalogue and writing product descriptions and details. It is of utmost importance to ensure that all the text and multimedia like short videos or HD pictures are accessible through mobile internet, which tends to be slower- at least presently in India. These small measures taken will go a long way in ensuring that the consumer knows about your products, without just switching to another product that is displayed in a more mobile-friendly way.

Sellers take note, mcommerce is finally here to stay.
