Browntape gets funded by industry leaders

The Goa-based company Browntape has received funding from India’s leading early stage investor Seedfund (who also invested in Redbus, Carwale and Done By None) along with Krishnan Ganesh, a Bangalore-based serial entrepreneur (who has investments in Bluestone) . While the exact amount of investment has not been revealed, Seedfund usually invests $1 million and $5 million (Rs 6 crore -30 crore) in the first round. Online retail is growing at a tremendous pace even at the grassroots level with even the smallest of retailers considering online selling options to reach out to the widespread Indian masses. In this scenario, there is increasing potential for ecommerce enabler services like Browntape. “When we started product development, the ecommerce market was still nascent, but we knew there was potential. Now there are about ten marketplaces like this in India and a tool like this is necessary,” Gurpreet Singh, the co-founder of Browntape said.
