Tradus adopts NEW Business model to focus on Same Day Delivery option; Will currently service sellers only from Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore

Customer satisfaction is undoubtedly the most important parameter and the measure of success of online sellers. Offering options and competitive prices are not enough to maintain credibility amongst customers. Timely delivery of undamaged product is perhaps more important to retain customer loyalty and ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

A key differentiator of any online platform is delivery time – lesser the delivery time, more is the customer loyalty. Tradus has the aim of tapping into this customer mentality to benefit the sellers and has announced a shift in its business model to focus on same day delivery option to heighten customer delight while ensuring maximum ratings for the respective sellers.

Same day delivery service reduces cancellation of orders and problems due to delay in fulfilling orders. This in turn increases sales for sellers and helps them to gain the trust of customers.

In scaling new heights, Tradus has always transformed their operations and business model to cater to their growing customer base by adapting new and essential technologies.

Tradus’ new business model

To deliver products to customers on the ‘same day’, Tradus will adopt the following changes with immediate effect:

  • A logistics infrastructure is created which would pick products from select “Local Markets” and deliver products to customers on the same day.
  • Currently, only select local markets in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore come under this category (see image below)
  • Existing sellers who are not able to service from the above markets will be deactivated. However, existing orders can be fulfilled till receipt of payment, but new orders cannot be received.
  • Sellers outside the above mentioned markets can list products if they can service and fulfill orders from these markets.

According to Tradus, they will expand the reach of markets shortly. Have a look at the local markets under this model currently in the image below (the non-highlighted cities will be added in the coming phases)-

Success in the West

Last year, ecommerce giants like ebay, Amazon and Google shopping launched same day delivery service which saw huge success almost instantly and especially during the holiday seasons when people tend to make last minute purchases and want delivery immediately. Also, once people see and like something, they want it as soon as possible.

Grabbing the opportunity, ebay and Amazon launched this service which also helped to avoid change of mind in people while making purchases – sometimes if they think more, they might decide they can do without the product. So same day delivery service helps to tap into purchasing behavior of people who tend to make on-the-spot purchases.

Ebay uses a delivery boy on a cycle to avoid traffic and reach products to customer as soon as possible. 1-hour delivery option is given to select cities closest to the warehouses or fulfillment centres in the case of Amazon.

Indian counterparts with same day delivery option

While ebay has launched a 9-hour delivery service in Mumbai, foodpanda.com has been operating on the same day delivery model. Of course, being a food takeaway service they cannot falter on the delivery option. Foodpanda.com operates out of the major Indian cities, where customers can make orders from the popular restaurants foodpanda has tie-ups with and food is delivered to customers within the hour. A 1-hour delivery model could probably be an ideal option for them to popularize their service even more.

Opportunity for Indian online seller with Tradus’ same day delivery service

Seeing the success in the West, Tradus has probably adapted to this business model in its efforts to increase profits for sellers. While the serviceable local markets are limited currently, Tradus plans to expand reach subsequently wherein more sellers can benefit from this new option.

A new seller can ideally join this as maximum customer satisfaction is assured in this case, guaranteeing positive customer reviews. The positive feedback would help in getting the credibility and trust of customers to grow business and expand customer reach.

An existing seller can improve his service and improve/add to his ratings with this option.
