With eBay India joining the fray when it comes to same day delivery, the eCommerce sector is heating up when it comes to faster delivery processes. All eCommerce companies are competing to get a one up on the other when it comes to shipping a product to the customer at the fastest speeds.
Amazon India introduced its same day delivery shipping service to the country last year and it. This premium delivery feature was restricted to a few cities and cost Rs. 99/item. Flipkart joined in soon with their own express shipping feature which cost Rs.99/item. Both companies aimed to ship their products within 24 hours of the order being placed. However there were some constraints. Premium shipping was only available on some products, those marked with ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’ and those being sold by WS Retail on Flipkart.
Snapdeal recently launched its Same Day Delivery Express feature for customers in the Delhi-NCR region. One important way Snapdeal’s express shipping differs from those by Amazon and Flipkart is that it is completely free. The express shipping is only available on select products on its website.
eBay India launched its 9 hour delivery service today targeting only Mumbai users. This service like Snapdeal’s is free and is applicable on select high value products on its website. The company has launched a separate microsite to showcase these products.
Here is a table which shows the comparison between the different express shipping services.
MarketPlace | Delivery Time | Cities Covered | Charges for the Customer |
Amazon | 24 hours | New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad | Rs. 99 / item |
Flipkart | 24 hours | Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Noida Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune | Rs. 90 / item |
