We had written about JustDial launching a marketplace earlier and today it has been confirmed. The company has informed the BSE that it will be launching the platform soon. JustDial is calling this platform Search Plus Services. The company which is the largest business listing service provider in the country has been working on strategy whereby it can enable the users on its platform to go ahead and buy products. This transformation from business listing to ecommerce marketplace will definitely benefit the company, its users and sellers listed on the platform.

As we had written before, the company will not be selling products. It will just act as a layer in between its users and online sellers. The sellers will have to handle logistics and products by themselves but will only be able to list themselves on the new marketplace.

There is huge advantage to local merchants if this new marketplace gets traction. The deliveries could be sped up because of JustDial’s huge database of local vendors. The marketplace will show users price differences between similar goods from different sellers as well as a rating system. There is also a chance that Justdial’s existing proactive vendor callback service will work on the new marketplace. This will help vendors to quote competitively in order to drive sales.
