Amazon India is ramping up its efforts to get traction in the country. It has been slowly increasing its hold on the Indian ecommerce market since its launch earlier this year. Today, they have added two more services to their list. The company will be partnering with India Post for a Cash on Delivery pilot soon. An official from the India Post has confirmed that they are working with Amazon India to figure out how to get COD enabled for the ecommerce site. The company has also launched its one day delivery service for customers in select states.
Both these services will only be available for items marked ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’. If COD is eligible on a product, then it will display ‘Eligible for Cash on Delivery’. Cash on Delivery is currently free but the company will charge a convenience fee of Rs.39 in the months to come.
Its One Day Delivery service is a premium service and the company will be charging customers Rs.99 on a guaranteed one day delivery. Two day delivery will cost lesser. You can view the rates below.
This One Day Delivery may have to do with the recent news of Amazon setting up its own logistics service. The service will only be available in certain pincodes of cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune. Amazon has thus beaten Flipkart in the race to premium deliveries, since Flipkart has still not announced this option. These new services will have a good impact on Amazon sellers as they will drive more consumers to the website. Amazon is renowned for running a tight operation and sellers on the platform can benefit from these new services.
