[Customer Speak] 8 Things I Would NOT Buy Online

Don’t you sometimes wonder what customers are thinking when they are browsing for things online? We wonder too, so we thought why not try to see that side of things too. Maybe these articles can help you decide what you should keep in mind when listing products, or maybe they could be just for a ‘good-read’. If I had unlimited money which I could only spend online, would I buy everything there is to buy on the internet? You bet not!

Spectacles

Not only is it advisable to get both eyes tested before ordering a new pair of sight-correction glasses, but the way the glasses sit on my nose bridge is also of great importance to me. Too tight and I’ll be left with nearly permanent clinch marks on my nose. Too loose and I’ll have to pick up the pieces of my almost new glasses and order a new pair. Even if the size of the frame is clearly mentioned online, I don’t really know my size, which I am sure keeps changing.

Heels

Shoes in general are a tricky thing to purchase! When I walk into a store, I try a dozen pairs, strut around in a few and then finally decide which ones I’ll make your walking companions. And if the shoes are heeled, add another moment of confusion and evaluation to the shoe buying process! Some feet are too broad for their length, and some too narrow. My feet could be quite chubby and cushioned, thus making even the thinnest soles feel comfortable, while yours may be skinny and nervy. With all these considerations, can one ever buy shoes online with the expectation of a 100% success rate?

Make-up

I wouldn’t want to run the risk of applying a foundation two shades lighter than my skin tone and resembling a painted clown. Even if I am sure that I am ‘wheatish to fair’, is there an absolutely fool proof way of deciding if 01 is my complexion or 02? This is made even harder by brands, because different brands have different calibrations. And just because that Scarlet red lip colour looks great on the model’s luscious lips, it isn’t safe to assume it wouldn’t make me look like I had too much wine and forgot to lick my lips! If buying make-up online, I would stick to familiar products.

High-end luxury products

Well, this one is a very personal choice. If I want to buy a designer dress, I would much rather get it custom-made and ensure it’s worth the money I am paying for. If it’s an exclusive perfume that can be weighed in silver if not gold, I would prefer taking a whiff of it, alternated by coffee beans, alternated by another exquisite fragrance before I make the grand purchase.

Bulbs and tube lights

Even when I walk into the local hardware store, I always ask the shopkeeper to fix the bulb in a socket, switch it on and see for myself if it lights up or not! Yes, the product description can tell me the Wattage and the power consumption, but can it answer my questions like how white is really white, and is this yellow really yellow?

Friends

Much like they say money can’t buy happiness, some of us believe money can’t buy friends either. Some may differ though. This website helps one buy and rent friends. Having a hard day at work? Need a patient ear? Don’t have a friend? Well I could buy one online. But do I really want to?

Skulls

If you were surprised at the heading – yes, human skulls are available online. But unless I decide to set-up a medical laboratory or a research facility should I be buying human skulls online? Should I be buying human skulls at all?

Souls

“I’ve sold my soul to the devil.” Remember this good old jibe? Well, depending on who’s bought it, this can now come true because souls are bought and sold online by this extremely interesting website. Though this features on my ‘things I will NOT buy online’ list, if I do figure out a use to these souls, I might just buy one someday!
