Leading ecommerce giant Amazon has its battle plan ready. The company has tied up with leading brands to add sheen to its festive sale due to begin on the 1st of October. In an attempt to take on the joint forces of Flipkart and Myntra (who lead the online fashion segment with the recent addition of Jabong), the company has enlisted the help of Aditya Birla online fashion, popularly known as abof.
The move is beneficial to both parties. Says Prashant Gupta, president and CEO of abof,
“We aim to increase the accessibility of abof branded products to a new and wider user base through our partnership with Amazon.”
Arun Sirdeshmukh, who heads Amazon Fashion, said,
“This launch from the house of Aditya Birla Group further enhances selection on Amazon Fashion that already includes brands from Madura Garments and Pantaloons. Also, it reinforces our commitment to offer a width of choice, across price spectrum, to suit varied preferences of our customers.”
To start with, for the upcoming Great Indian Sale, abof will showcase apparel ranging from Rs. 395 to 1,995. Subsequently, it will introduce footwear as well.
Amazon has said that its home and kitchen products are going to bring in the dough.
“We are seeing a good traction for the Home and Kitchen category,” says Sumit Sahay, who heads the home and kitchen segment at Amazon, “We have had a remarkable growth over the past 3 years and it is one of our fastest growing categories and is among the top four category.”
The department has instructed its sellers ranging from small sellers to leading brands like Samsung and Haier to be prepared with sufficient stock.
Its recent collaboration with furniture group Urban Ladder is also a step towards conquering all segments of online selling. The upcoming sale is going to be a test by fire for all the leading ecommerce companies. The battle lines have been drawn, and the stage is all set.
