Ecommerce giant, Amazon India has been showing great interest in dealing with refurbished goods. Earlier in April, the marketplace had tied up with GreenDust, a refurbished goods retailer. And few weeks back, IOS informed you about how Amazon is thinking about launching a dedicated section for refurbished good by joining hands with Surpluss.
While Amazon is a marketplace that sells everything under the sun, Surpluss is a platform for purchasing refurbished mobiles, tablets and other electronic products. Together they plan to make use of their combined advantages and make most of the rising popularity of smartphones and other gadgets.
While speaking about this deal, Surpluss’ Executive Director, Tarun Bhardwaj said, “This partnership with Amazon will enable us to leverage their strengths and innovations in technology to reach out to wider set of consumers across India. The company has received more than 150 orders within a week of its Amazon debut.”
The company plans to sell Samsung, Xiaomi, Apple, One Plus, Motorola, Micromax and Lava brand smartphones via Amazon.
Owing to its huge popularity, market for refurbished products is huge. Extremely popular in the West, the concept is still at a nascent stage in India in the online space. In the unorganised retail sector, you would find many such stores that sell refurbished products. But with trusted ecommerce players like Amazon getting in, refurbished market will get more organised, reliable and transparent.
