Amazon India building another fulfillment centre in Telangana

Amazon’s tax woes with the Karnataka government pushed the marketplace place to find an alternate state for carrying on their business smoothly. And their search ended with Telangana, where the ecommerce giant is now looking to set up their second fulfillment centre.

Telangana to be Amazon’s biggest hub

In April this year, Amazon had set up their largest Indian fulfillment centre in the newly formed state, Telangana. As per news reports, the new one is going to be bigger than the previous one. Without disclosing the exact details, Telangana Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K.T. Rama Rao shared that the state government has already given 10 acre land in the Nanakramguda area near Gachibowli to Amazon to build the new fulfillment centre (FC).

Bigger and better fulfillment centres will allow Amazon to speed up their delivery process. As for sellers, small and medium companies associated with Amazon will be able to cater to a wide range of customers from across the country and reduce their operating costs.

Other investments in Telangana

Besides opening FCs, Amazon might also set up data centre in the state. Telangana Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K.T. Rama Rao said, “We have requested Amazon to set up a data centre in Hyderabad. A delegation from the US is expected to pay a visit to Hyderabad pretty soon, and we are hopeful of receiving a positive response.”

The ecommerce company has also signed a MoU with Telangana, under which they will also educate sellers about ecommerce by conducting seminars, workshops across the state.

Drones might deliver Amazon packages from next year

Amazon is taking every step to overcome logistical challenges that exists in the Indian ecommerce industry. Because whoever cracks the logistics code is most likely to win the ecommerce battle as they will get access to a hugely populated & unexplored Indian market.

While one hand Amazon is building largest fulfillment centres for quicker delivery, they are also looking forward to use drones for the same. They had declared the plans to start using drones for delivery but rules and regulations haven’t allowed them to do so as yet in India. But with the news of DGCA accelerating the course of laying out guidelines for the use of drones for civil purposes in India, there’s hope that by next year Amazon’s drone delivery will be a reality.
