Sale of fake products on the online platforms is something etailers have been battling with for a while now. Despite stringent regulations and checks in place, they still happen and customers get more agitated.
This time, it’s Flipkart in the news for striking the wrong chord with a customer. Jay Samal received a fake JBL wireless speaker from Flipkart and he plans to sue the ecommerce giant for the hassle and inconvenience.
In their response to Samal, Flipkart mentioned that it was a ‘rare’ and ‘isolated’ incident, and that efforts were on to investigate how it was caused. The company refunded the money immediately.
“The matter is not just about getting the money refunded. Selling fake products is a serious crime. Not just me, many others are also going through the same hassle by buying these fake products,” Samal, an advertisement industry executive said. To prevent this, “I’m planning to file an FIR and the matter should be decided in the courts.”
