Amazon’s Easy Ship, not easy to sail on the ship !

Seems like Amazon is not so flawless after all. Its just been a month since launch, but Amazon’s Easy Ship service already seems to be testing sellers’ patience with multiple problems, without solutions!

Due to what seems like a hasty decision on Amazon’s part, Easy Ship has resulted in more returns from customers translating to losses for sellers offering the service. Some sellers have already filed complaints while some have opted out.

What is Easy Ship?

Sellers opting for Easy Ship supposedly get the following benefits:

Amazon’s Easy Ship, not easy to sail on the ship !

Once a customer places an order, the item/s are picked up from the seller by an Amazon delivery personnel and delivered to the customer within the specified time. Customers get trackable and faster deliveries, in addition to COD payment option.

Amazon’s claims

  • Low shipping rates
  • Faster delivery

But the scene now is ..

Retailers are facing hassles due to slow pick-ups and deliveries and frequent follow-ups are required to ensure parcels get sent out. Orders get picked up 3-4 hours later than they should, after which they are delivered in metros in 4 days and local areas in 2 days.

Higher returns from customers due to the COD payment option which is a must to opt for the service. It has been proved by reports that COD leads to higher product returns from customers due to a number of reasons.

According to one seller, “ Amazon Easy Ship is a third rated service now. They just don’t come for pick up for 2 days and we have to call them up repeatedly.”

Amazon’s response

Amazon does not take responsibility for claims made by customers when they want to return products. They opt for the easy way out by telling sellers that it is up to them to decide whether to accept or reject the claims.

Indian Online Seller- use Easy Ship only if needed

This would be a good time to learn from the woes of others. If you haven’t signed up for the service already, maybe you could wait till the issue is resolved. Since its Amazon, its hard to believe that they would leave the matter unattended. Even if they find the Indian market difficult, maybe in time they will ease out the kinks to enable this service flawlessly. Waiting till then could be the better choice!
