The most convenient thing about an online marketplace is the ease of joining and leaving whenever one pleases. To close a physical business even for a bit there are inconveniences. Let’s say, a seller is unable to sell for a month but would like to resume selling the next month. In case of a physical store, he will need to pay his store rent and other expenses for the month that he is not selling.
With an online marketplace, it is really easy to deactivate a seller account when not selling and reactivate it once ready to sell again.
Snapdeal believes online sellers should be allowed this convenience. As a result, its sellers can activate and deactivate their seller accounts whenever they need. Here’s how you can too.
Step 1 – Sellers must log into the Snapdeal seller panel with their registered email id and password. Then click on their name on the top right of the dashboard for the dropdown menu with the options showing account active or inactive status. Select the ‘Manage Profile’ option below that.

Step 2 – Once Manage Profile opens up on the screen click the ‘Edit’ option at the top right corner. This will result in a pop-up box on the screen. Here the “Deactivate” button must be selected. Then the “Yes I am sure” button to confirm deactivation. A message saying deactivation in progress will flash on the screen.

Before a Snapdeal seller account is deactivated:
Step 1 – Repeat step one of seller account deactivation.
Step 2 – Select the Edit option again and this time, the pop-up box will show up with an “Activate” button. Click on it then click on the “Yes I’m sure” button to confirm account reactivation. A message saying account successfully reactivated will appear on the screen.

The account gets reactivated immediately and sellers must enable their SUPCs either individually or in bulk. This can be done on the catalogue panel.
According to Snapdeal, sellers must maintain a minimum gap of 15 days before they request seller account reactivation or deactivation. The following message will appear on the screen should the seller try to reactivate or deactivate his account before the 15 day period is complete.

Also, a seller account will not be reactivated if Snapdeal deactivates it for any particular reason.
How helpful do you think this option would be? For a seller with seasonal inventory, could this be the solution to tackle slack seasons? One could think of deactivating his account and concentrating on product management and preparation in the meanwhile right?
