Why eBay India’s Powership Program Is Good For Online Sellers

In an effort to help the Indian Online Seller community, eBay India launched its Powership program last year in May. For the uninitiated the program shifts the responsibility of shipping sellers’ items onto eBay and lets merchants and sellers concentrate on more important things like growing their business.

The program has been a huge hit with sellers since it launched and has eased the process of selling for an independent online merchant. Since its launch last year, the program has seen 1000+ adopters. In fact, all the top 100 sellers on eBay India are using the program.

So, why is Powership so popular?

No need for merchants to worry about delivery logistics
The obvious reason could be that the logistics of shipping your products across our diverse country is a bit tedious and eBay India stepping in to take care of it is a huge relief for merchants.

Fastest Remittance offered by eBay India
The second most important reason is that this program gives the fastest remittance to sellers. Once the assigned courier/shipping company updates the shipping status as delivered, eBay released the remittance. Before this, sellers had to wait for the customer to confirm the delivery of the seller’s items.

If you are an online merchant with eBay India, then the Powership program is the only way you can get an express remittance with the company.

Good delivery track record
Besides this, eBay India and its logistics partners have a built a good track record for the Powership program since the last year. In percentage terms, the Powership program has managed to deliver 90% of the items shipped within 3 days. 75% of the items shipped via Powership are dispatched the same day as the order. Powership’s automatic allocation of a shipping service by analysing a seller’s pin code is very helpful. With Powership, you don’t need to worry about the business of co-ordinating shipments with courier companies.

An attractive rebate on PaisaPay
Besides, eBay India has also sweetened the deal by offering a 0.5% rebate on PaisaPay for those merchants who use Powership. There are also no charges for Return to Origin (RTO) orders .

The Flipside

Despite the overwhelming positives of the Powership program, there exist some problems with it. One of eBay India’s logistic partners, DTDC has repeatedly failed to pick up items for many days. This can lead to buyers having negative opinions about you since they do not know the nitty gritties of how the system works. So if DTDC is assigned to your order, please do actively engage with eBay India and DTDC to ensure that your item is picked up by the company as soon as possible.

Ask the sellers before writing anything about ebay. Ebay never pays fastship discount honestly and what is the point of 0.5% discount when logistics companies do not pick up the parcel on the same day and what’s more parcels are not even connected for days after pick up and ebay has done absolutely nothing about this since the first day it began the powership program(April 2012). All parcels are over weighted and seller is made to run from pillar to post to get refund, powership never never responds to sent emails, not even on their microsite(https://deals.ebay.in/powership/seller/index.php).
Basically there is no business house in India is honest, after all we are Indians so I don’t expect much, what we do best is only talk BIG but no real stuff, no self pride.
Sorry but this my frank opinion in this matter.
