Amazon.com Inc.’s apparel brands are just starting to attract the attention of fashion shoppers, but their sales picked up noticeably late last year, reports Slice Intelligence. Slice, which analyzes online sales based on the email receipts of a panel of 4.7 million consumers, says sales of Amazon’s private-label apparel products increased 67% in the fourth quarter of 2016 compared to the third quarter.
Online shopping via a smartphone or tablet continues to increase in popularity in the Netherlands. The number of online purchases that happened using the smartphone, grew 68 percent compared to 2015. Now, 9 percent of online purchases in the Netherlands happen via the smartphone, while the tablet accounts for 14 percent.
Retail is in the midst of a “seismic shift,” Target Corp. CEO Brian Cornell told analysts on the retail chain’s 2016 fourth quarter earnings call in February.
