The Amazon Classroom training programme offers courses specially designed to teach new online sellers the skills of online selling, mentioned the company in a statement.

The programme will be accessible to sellers with less than a month’s worth of experience on the Amazon.in platform. Through a virtual classroom, sellers can focus on –

  • Order processing
  • Listing new products
  • Managing returns

All of which are essential to run a successful online retail business.

The director and general manager of seller services at Amazon India, Gopal Pillai said, “Since our launch in 2013, we have been instrumental in enabling thousands of Indian sellers start, manage and grow their business on Amazon.in. As we enter the new financial year, we encourage thousands more to leverage our marketplace and make the most of India’s growing digital economy.”

How will it all work?

New Amazon sellers across varied categories can avail of Amazon Classroom. They simply need to register for online classroom sessions and they will gain access to knowledge about the intricacies of online selling through free practice sessions and expert guidance.

Sellers also have the opportunity to interact with one another and learn in a collaborative manner. Training content is available anytime for revisions. Learning material on given topics is downloadable, pool questions can be participated in to test knowledge and understanding and even chats with experts are available to clear doubts and queries as and when they arise.

According to Pillai, “We have received 99% positive feedback from the sellers who attended these online classroom sessions which has resulted in a positive increase in their performance as well. Our philosophy has always been to work backwards from our seller needs and innovating on their behalf and Amazon Classroom is another step in that direction. We look forward to enabling them in these new & exciting times for digital commerce in the country.”

This is a great step by Amazon. It will definitely boost seller confidence and performance in online retail. But, what about existing online sellers? How does Amazon plan to enhance their experiences?
